Cannabis Concentrates
Maximum potency. For experienced users.
Concentrates are cannabis in its most potent form, typically 60-90% THC. They are designed for consumers who have built tolerance through regular use and want stronger, more efficient effects. If you are new to cannabis, start with flower or edibles first.
Concentrates are high-potency products (60-90% THC). We recommend them only for consumers with established cannabis tolerance. Our staff can help you determine if concentrates are right for you.
Types of Concentrates
Understanding what we carry
Each type of concentrate has a different extraction method, texture, flavor profile, and price point. The best one depends on your preferences and equipment.
Live Resin
Made from flash-frozen cannabis that was never dried or cured. Preserves the full terpene profile, producing exceptional flavor and aroma. The gold standard for flavor chasers.
Rosin
Solventless concentrate made with heat and pressure alone. No chemicals involved in extraction. Clean, pure, and highly regarded by cannabis purists.
Distillate
Highly refined THC oil, typically 85-95% pure cannabinoid. Versatile: can be dabbed, used in vape carts, or added to flower. Consistent but less complex.
Budder / Wax / Crumble
Different textures of the same basic extraction process. Good middle ground between distillate and live resin. All are easy to work with for dabbing.
Shatter
Glass-like, translucent concentrate that breaks when handled. Stable texture makes it easy to portion. Less terpene-rich than live resin but offers clean, potent effects.
Equipment Needed
What you need to consume concentrates
Unlike flower, concentrates require specific equipment. You cannot smoke them in a regular pipe or roll them into a joint (though you can add them to flower as a topper). Here is what you need for a proper dabbing setup.
We carry basic dabbing accessories in-store. Our budtenders can help you build a starter setup if you are new to concentrates. Visit our accessories page for more.
Dab Rig
A water pipe designed for concentrates. Uses a heated nail or banger instead of a bowl. The traditional method. Requires a torch or electronic nail.
E-Rig / E-Nail
Electronic dab rigs that heat to precise temperatures without a torch. Easier to use, more consistent results. Brands like Puffco Peak are popular options.
Dab Pen
Portable devices specifically designed for concentrates. Load a small amount into the chamber and vape. Less vapor production than a rig but highly portable.
Dab Tool
A small metal or glass tool for handling concentrates. Essential for portioning and loading your device. Different tip shapes work better for different textures.
Carb Cap
Placed over the banger after loading your dab. Restricts airflow and lowers the effective temperature for better flavor and efficiency.
Safety
Consuming concentrates responsibly
Start with a rice grain-sized dab
Even experienced flower smokers can be surprised by concentrate potency. Your first dab should be tiny. You can always take another.
Low-temperature dabs are safer and tastier
High temperatures produce harsh, hot vapor that can irritate your lungs. Heat your banger and let it cool 30-60 seconds, or use an e-rig with temperature control. 450-550F is the sweet spot.
Never use unregulated or black-market concentrates
Illicit concentrates may contain residual solvents, pesticides, or other contaminants. Every concentrate at Purple Buds is from licensed extractors with published lab results.
Torch safety
If using a butane torch, always place it on a stable surface, keep it away from flammable materials, and never leave it unattended while lit. E-rigs eliminate torch risk entirely.
