Cannabis Topicals

Localized relief. No high required.

Cannabis topicals are applied directly to the skin for targeted relief. Creams, balms, and roll-ons work locally without entering your bloodstream, meaning they will not produce a psychoactive high. Perfect for people who want the therapeutic benefits of cannabis without any intoxication.

How Topicals Work

Why most topicals will not get you high

When you apply a cream or balm to your skin, the cannabinoids interact with CB1 and CB2 receptors in your skin, muscles, and nerves locally. They do not pass through your skin into your bloodstream in significant amounts.

This means you get localized anti-inflammatory and pain-relieving effects at the application site without any psychoactive experience. You can use a THC topical and drive, go to work, or function completely normally.

The exception: Transdermal patches are specifically designed to push cannabinoids through the skin into the bloodstream. These CAN produce a high and should be treated like any other THC product.

Creams, Balms, Roll-Ons

Non-psychoactive. Localized effects only. Safe to use before work, driving, or any daily activity.

Transdermal Patches

CAN be psychoactive. Delivers cannabinoids into the bloodstream. Treat like an edible or tincture regarding impairment.

CBD vs. THC

Which cannabinoid for topical use?

Both CBD and THC have anti-inflammatory properties when applied topically. Neither will get you high in cream or balm form.

CBD Topicals

  • Anti-inflammatory without any THC concern
  • Widely studied for skin conditions
  • May help with eczema, psoriasis, and dermatitis
  • No drug test risk whatsoever
  • Good entry point for cannabis-curious users

THC Topicals

  • Stronger pain-relieving properties in some studies
  • Better for acute pain and deep muscle soreness
  • Non-psychoactive in cream/balm form
  • May appear on sensitive drug tests (topical, not systemic)
  • Combined THC+CBD formulas may offer enhanced relief

Application Guide

How to apply topicals effectively

01

Clean the area

Wash the skin where you will apply the topical. Clean skin absorbs better. Warm skin (after a shower) absorbs best.

02

Apply generously

Use more than you think you need. Topicals work through the skin barrier, which limits absorption. A thin layer may not deliver enough cannabinoids.

03

Massage thoroughly

Rub the product into the skin for 30-60 seconds. Massage improves absorption and increases blood flow to the area, enhancing delivery.

04

Wait and reapply

Effects typically begin within 15-45 minutes. If needed, reapply after 1-2 hours. Topicals can be used multiple times per day without concern.
